Rooftop Bar Boasts Great Views and Delicious Food

Writer: Helen LawlerHelen Lawler

New Jersey has so many fabulous places to dine. But The Bradford in Bridgewater not only has fabulous sharing plates, but views of the surrounding area and a hip, upscale atmosphere. This little gem not only has a fun, hopping late-night life with featured DJs, but is perfect for happy hour and meet ups too. Whether you are Gen Z or Gen X, there is something for everyone here at this rooftop bar. (You must be 21 to enter after 7 p.m.)

Atop of the AC Hotel on Route 202/206 near the Bridgewater Mall, The Bradford offers a small, but delicious menu. Start off with one of their signature cocktails like the Espresso Martini featuring Vodka, cold brew, coffee liqueur, vanilla and Cinnamon and topped with toasted marshmallow.

Signature drinks feature top shelf spirits.

Next, order a variety of yummy sharables for you and your friends. The burrata adds grapefruit, arugula, a toasted ciabatta and honey for a crave-worthy app. You have not tried burrata like this eclectic presentation. Or, try the mushroom polenta is the right mix of crispy shiitake and salty parmigiano. (Bonus! It's gluten free.) The sliders are a popular option too.

The grilled options are made to perfection. The strip steak is tender and a show stopper with its herbed compound butter. Warning: it is big and can be shared or bring some home for the next day. But so worth it.

Grilled to perfection, the steak is big enough for two.

Nothing bad can be said for any of the three dessert choices. They are all amazing and good for sharing too. And, to top off a great evening, try one of the cordials from Hennessy to Louis XIII.

There is no missing dessert. Chocolate lovers take note of this cake.

The atmosphere here is the star of the show! Walking off the elevator, you may think you are in a NYC establishment. No matter the time of year, you can see wonderful sunsets off to the west, the Watchung Mountains to the east and sparkling lights of the landscape below. The interior has a mix of high-tops, bistro tables, large bars and intimate conversational areas. Cozy up by the fire on a cold evening while enjoying your drinks and catching up. Or, play billiards in the more sedate bar with elements of dark leather and kick back energy. In the warmer weather, the southern-facing bar opens its windows and the outdoor patio brings the season to life (even with heat lamps and outdoor fireplace when needed in Spring and Fall). Don't miss an opportunity to get a photo by the rose-covered arch!

During holidays or other occasions, they offer a special menu. This month for Valentine's weekend there a number of specialties like King Crab, short ribs, and petit fours. The Bradford also hosts private events with a party menu.

Because it is an upscale environment, there is a strict dress code. Reservations are recommended, especially in warmer months.

Enjoy a fun evening and break out of the routine with a visit to The Bradford.
